Janet I. Walters, R.N., B.S.N., M.S., ANP

Cardiovascular and Adult Nurse Practitioner

Background
Jan Walters has been a nurse since 1971.   She has been an Adult Nurse Practitioner for the past four years working in cardiology practices located in Arizona and Michigan.   Other experiences include being the Cardiac Recovery Director at home care agency in Troy, Michigan and a case manager for University of Michigan Medical Center Thoracic/Cardiac Surgery Nursing Department.   She worked in the University of Michigan Cardiac/Thoracic Surgery Intensive Care Unit for 17 years.   She has developed patient written and video education materials.   Currently, she is developing and managing the Coumadin, Congestive Heart Failure and Lipid Clinics at the Heart and Vascular Center of Arizona.

She is a Panel Member for the National Guidelines for the Care of the Cardiac Patient at Home.   She has published multiple articles and lectured at national conferences.   Master's thesis researched the Influence of Early Discharge on Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Patient Outcomes.  This thesis included an assessment tool to grade sternal and leg incision status.

Kay Zimmerman, R.N., ANP, CDE

Adult Nurse Practitioner and Certified Diabetes Educator

Background
Kay Zimmerman has worked in numerous areas of nursing including several different nursing units and intensive care units.  She moved from Ohio to Arizona where she worked on the Navajo Indian Reservation at Ganado, Arizona for two years.  She then moved to Phoenix.  Kay has been interested in diabetes from early in her nursing career.  During her post-graduate studies she read the Diabetes Control and Complications research report that proved that keeping blood glucose in the normal range prevents or stops the progression of complications. That ignited the passion to help people with diabetes control their disease.

Kay has taught critical care classes for nurses and others at Good Samaritan Medical Center and the Maricopa Community College District.  She has spoken at numerous conferences for nursing groups and Arizona Dietitians Association.

Kay is a Member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses and the American Association of Diabetes Educators.  She is the past president of the Central Arizona Association of Diabetes Educators.

Janet M. Fett, R.N., M.S., ACNP

Background
Janet Fett has been a nurse since 1972.  She has been a Nurse Practitioner since 1998.  Before moving to Phoenix she was a Nurse Practitioner in a Minneapolis, Minnisota cardiology practice.  Her other nursing experience includes: Trauma Nurse Specialist and Flight-Emergency Nurse Level I in a Trauma and Cardiac Center in Illinois, as well as, Intensive Care and Medical-Surgical; critical care instructor for Olivet Nazarene College of Nursing BSN completion program.

During her Master's program at the University of Illinois at Chicago her project focused on chest pain centers in the emergency department.

Jan was also a member of the Illinois Attorney General's Domestic Violence Committee.   This included educating nurses and other health care professionals on recognition and response, as well as, working with other community organizations.

Amy Tangeman, R.N., M.S.N.

Background
Amy Tangeman has been a nurse since 1993, gaining experience in med-surg, telemetry, oncology and mostly cardiovascular intensive care, also serving as Assistant Director of Critical Care Services at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center.  She grew up on the Iowa/Minnesota border, but moved to Arizona immediately after graduation.

Mary Jo Stucky-Heil, B.A., R.N., M.S., APRN

Background
Mary Jo has been a nurse since 1983, working in a variety places, including St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands, Mayo Clinic’s hospital in Rochester, Minnesota, in Boise, Idaho, and in different hospitals in the Phoenix Valley.  She has worked in critical care for the majority of her nursing career in different, including Cardiovascular ICU, post-open heart ICU, Pediatric ICU, Medical ICU, Surgical ICU, PACU, and Emergency.  She has also been the Director of Nursing for a private home health care agency, and served as an Organ Donor Requestor for many years.  She grew up in Minnesota and moved to Arizona in 1996.

She is a member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, American Nurse’s Association, Arizona Nurse’s Association, and Sigma Theta Tau.

Lindsey M. Johnson, RN, MSN, FNP

Family Nurse Practitioner

Background
Lindsey Johnson grew up in Phoenix, AZ and is happy to return to the valley after graduating from UCLA in June of 2006 with her Masters Degree specializing as a Family Nurse Practitioner.  Lindsey has extensive critical care nursing experience, practicing for four years in the Transplant and Surgical Sub-specialties Intensive Care Unit at UCLA.

Lindsey is a member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses and is certified in Critical Care Nursing (CCRN).  Lindsey has taught critical care classes for the Nursing Research and Education department at UCLA and she has precepted many new and experienced nurses in the Intensive Care Unit.
