Expertise: Consultative Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, Complex Peripheral Vascular Intervention
Dr. Pershad has been practicing cardiology since 1994. He earned his medical degree at Grant Medical School and the University of Bombay in Bombay, India. He interned in internal medicine at Health Cleveland, Inc. Fairview General Hospital and Lutheran Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio, cardiology at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center and Carl T. Hayden VA Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona. He completed an interventional cardiovascular fellowship and apprenticeship at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, California. Dr. Pershad is board certified in interventional cardiology and cardiovascular diseases. He is also current on his board certification in internal medicine. Dr. Pershad is one of a very few physicians certified in endovascular medicine by the American Board of Vascular Medicine. His areas of expertise include minimally invasive treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysm, treatment of complex peripheral vascular disease and structural heart disease intervention (PFO and ASD Closures). Dr. Pershad is originally from Hyderabad, India.
Research:
Dr. Pershad is participating in several prestigious national multi-center clinical trials. He is currently the Principal Investigator for the Proctect II Clinical Trial comparing percutaneous left ventricular assist device to an intra-aortic balloon pump in high risk percutaneous coronary intervention. He is also enrolling patients in the CHOICE Carotid Stent Registry for asymptomatic high risk patients with carotid artery stenosis.
