Background:
Kay Zimmerman has worked in numerous areas of nursing including several different nursing units and intensive care units. She moved from Ohio to Arizona where she worked on the Navajo Indian Reservation at Ganado, Arizona for two years. She then moved to Phoenix. Kay has been interested in diabetes from early in her nursing career. During her post-graduate studies she read the Diabetes Control and Complications research report that proved that keeping blood glucose in the normal range prevents or stops the progression of complications. That ignited the passion to help people with diabetes control their disease.
Kay has taught critical care classes for nurses and others at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center and the Maricopa Community College District. She has spoken at numerous conferences for nursing groups and Arizona Dietitians Association.
Kay is a Member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses and the American Association of Diabetes Educators. She is the past president of the Central Arizona Association of Diabetes Educators.
